Pedestrian struck, killed on Route 13 in New Castle, Del. identified

WILMINGTON MANOR, Del. (WPVI) -- A pedestrian was struck and killed along Route 13 in New Castle, Delaware on Wednesday night.

It happened just before 10 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Route 13 near Bacon Avenue.

Delaware State Police say the 51-year-old driver of a Dodge Ram truck struck 71-year-old William Thomas Jr. of New Castle as he walked into the roadway from the Manor Park Shopping Center.

Thomas was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver was not injured and remained to speak to authorities.
